Characters Name: Leia Rolando
Age: 15
Canon: Tales of Xillia
Canon Point: Post Game
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: Straight as an arrow.
History: Link 1 and Link 2 for more general game related history. Spoilers in the plot summary obviously.
Her wiki info is a little sparse, but there isn't that much detail given regarding her history pre-game beyond it. There are a few additions I'd like to chime on though. For example the biggest and super important fact that she's childhood friends with Jude, the main character of the game. When they were younger Leia would constantly "bully" Jude by challenging him to fights, which she always won. Challenge being a very generous term as she would literally jump him out of nowhere and yell "SPARRING TIME!" and attack him. Yet despite that, she would also always apologize for beating him up by bringing him curry for dinner, since she pretty much had one of those childhood puppy love crushes on him. She also took up training as a nurse at the clinic Jude's parents run specifically to get closer to him. Also worth noting is she used to be prone to sickness when she was younger, yet she grew out of that for the most part. Over all, her "history" isn't fully filled out and she develops far more over the game, and I don't want to fill the app with spoilers if I can avoid it... So I hope that's enough random tidbits about her history to make up for how bare her wiki page is!
Appearance: Links to her wiki again since her picture is right there!
Personality:
Leia always tries her best.
No matter what obstacle comes her way, no matter what hurdle she must jump, no matter what giant monster leaps in her path, no matter what frown is upside down... Leia will always do her best. That is her self-proclaimed best talent and it rings true throughout. Leia's definitely not perfect, she's not as strong as her friends, she's more than a little clumsy, can be a bit oblivious at times and has questionable manners for a girl... yet no matter what, she'll do her best. I have said it three times thus far just to make sure it sticks. That is how important of a trait it is.
That stated, let us sally forth. If Leia had a default DW mood setting, it would be energetic. Her boundless energy flows out like a river, even if said river sometimes hits a dam as she runs out of breath. That energy my be endless, yet that doesn't mean her stamina is. While far from what would qualify as weak, Leia is definitely the type who would get tuckered out after intense physical activity. She loves to do said activity though, so it makes for a odd balance. When younger she would likely wear herself out every day if she ran around too much, yet that was then, now she can go for hours at a time if it really came to it! She'd be the first to complain about being hungry or thirsty afterward though. With a big smile.
Still, she's tough, yet kind of a klutz. Not on the level at which she trips on nothing at all all the time, yet if she is carrying something important, there is a exceedingly high chance of her doing exactly that and landing right on her face. Mostly commonly? This'll happen when she has food in her hands. What a waste. Yet even if she's a touch clumsy, it's not a trait that fires off full blast. When she gets serious, she has perfect balance. She could stand on the very tip of a tall tree without falling if it was to train.
Which in all honesty? She likely did at some point.
Why? Because under the harsh tutelage of her mother, she learned martial arts with her childhood friend. Leia is a very physical kind of gal. A tomboy without any question. Even as a kid, her favorite thing to do was play tag and tackle her target full on to the ground. Or to run around fighting with him. Mostly her against him. So while she's for rough housing on one hand, it also means she's very physical when showing affection. She won't hesitate to latch on and hug a friend if she's happy, or lean in close and pat someone on the head if they're sad.
Yet when it comes to others by and large, Leia suffers from Acute Kindness Syndrome. She'll greet strangers with a smile, try to cheer up those she's met for the first time with a silly phrase or random joke if they're feeling down, or just flat out chat with someone who is feeling lonely. It's a crazy sickness to have I know, yet Leia has it bad. Even if someone claimed to hate her or find her kindness offensive, she'd feel sorry for them mere moments later if someone told them why they acted like that.
Still, that's just how Leia is. She'll do her best to bring a smile to the faces of those around her. Even when things look grim or like it might be tough to keep going, she'll crack a smile, say it'll be okay and try whatever it takes to put a smile on the faces of those around her.
Abilities:
Leia was trained in the martial arts by her mother! So she knows all sorts of techniques, yet her main skill is with a bo staff. Her skill with it is way up there, in the martial arts movie action hero level of skill when it comes to "normal" attacks. There's also tons of fancy things she can do with it using spirit artes, the "magic" of Xillia, but for the most part it's all skill with a staff.
Speaking of those spirit artes, Leia specializes in the use of healing artes, ranging from ones that heal wounds, bring fallen allies back to life to those that increase the fighting ability of herself and friends. For the record, spirit artes are used by channeling the power of the spirits through the mana lobe, a part of the brain that exists in Xillia.
Naturally, Leia also has the slightly increased strength, agility and stamina that comes from being a martial artist and just... well, a RPG character. That's all natural though, since she's been training with her mother since she was young.
Other: ... her staff has a special ability that makes it glow and extend, but actually it's just that she presses a button as her staffs are spring loaded to extend. She's super proud of designing that herself, ok.
SAMPLES
First Person:
*It took Leia quite some time to figure out how to work these fancy schmancy cellphone thingymabobs, so when the video finally turns on... she's midsentence. She was sure she had it on already.*
--punches everyone even though he wants to be a doctor, so be sure to keep an eye out for him! Let me know if you see him, okay?
Anyway... this sure is a weird place. Sure, the idea behind it sounds kind of cool... But like, I already have a mom and dad, y'know? I'm sure there are some super cool parents hiding from me that I haven't bumped into yet in this little house, but it'll be weird to think of them as actual parents... Is it okay if I try to be friends with them instead? That's not frowned upon or anything, is it? It'd be awesome to be friends with some not-parents, I think! I'll even do my best to act like the most awesomest daughter-friend they've ever had!
Oh, no offense to any other awesome daughter-friends out there. I'll just have to hit the ground running to gain some experience and catch up with those of you who have been here awhile! I'll even make sure to have some soda rice before hand to reap all the rewards I can.
... huh, now that I think about it... we really carried a lot of food with us while traveling... I wonder how we kept it all so fresh? This sounds like a mystery that would be worth solving, for the benefit of future snack time!
Okay, first order of business, find someone from home and ask them about food! I'll see you all later! Call me if you spot that punching doctor-to-be friend of mine I mentioned!
Third Person:
"Doryaaaaaaaaaaa--!!"
The feral cry of a girl swinging a broom around like it was a weapon. It had been a good few weeks since martial arts master of disaster (title self proclaimed) was brought to this urban environment. No monsters or spirits or even spirit artes had left her with a bit of a loss. Namely she constantly worried that her head has broke, since oh god, what if her Mana Lobe was gone or something?! Eventually she had come to the more reasonable explanation that there either weren't any spirits, or that she just didn't have any mana.
Both solutions were odd, yet it left her with only one option when it came to keeping in shape. Especially with her being denied her super awesome staffs. That's right, here was was, swinging a broom around in the front yard of her house. Yet she had been at this for a solid hour today, which meant it was time for a break.
"Haaa... It's like being back at home, yet missing out on all the neat spirit artes..."
Vocalizing the things she'd been thinking about, she idly leaned against the broom. Home, huh... It occurred to her that before she showed up here she more or less determined that her new goal in life was to grow up and make a family of her own... So showing up here and getting an entirely new family was a little... timely. If not extremely suspicious at the same time.
Yet that left her wondering.
Would she be trapped here long enough to do just that? There's no way she wanted to get a husband by having one assigned to her! She was still in the prime of her youth, eager to find a new love all on her own! ... well, maybe not that eager, but it was a goal worth striving for! Sure, Jude was heels over head for Milla, she came to terms with that! It was time for her to march forward on her own toward that amibitious goal of finding a hubby of her own!
. . .
This was kind of embarrassing to think about. A sigh escaped her as she mulled over it a bit more, swaying about as she used the broom as support. Maybe she should try jumping out at some of the nice guys she met here to see if they surviving sparring time like Jude? Or she could talk to her not-parents here for opinions on the matter?
. . .
"Aaaaaaaaahhhh!!!"
A shout of frustration for certain, as she rapidly rustled her hair sending it into a mess. She couldn't think about this!! The thoughts were too complicated for right after an hour of broom training! Forget it! She'd just resume that broom training, to drown out those family oriented thoughts until she had someone to talk to them with. That day would come soon enough, she was sure of it!
